The productive weekend began on Friday evening, when I met my sister half way between Omaha and Des Moines to pick up my niece, Katelyn, for the weekend. She agreed to take care of the kids while Dave and I worked on getting things cleaned up in the yard and items taken to the storage unit.
On Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early to get the day started. Dave and I ran to Menards and the Habitat for Humanity Restore to pick up some things. We were bummed it was raining and looked like rain most of the day but we figured we had some odds and ends things to get finished anyway. Dave is on vacation this upcoming week, so he could finish up some of the things we couldn't complete due to the rain.
Katelyn took awesome care of the kids and little-C didn't seem to mind when we had to run to the store. She made sure to give us a hug, kiss, high five and knuckles before we left each time. It's her ritual when she says goodbye to anyone.
On Saturday afternoon, after it had quit raining, Dave and I took five loads to the storage unit. We are decluttering as our realtor told us to do. Two children accumulate a lot of things. I mean a lot but they're totally worth all of it!

On Sunday, we woke up early and headed outdoors! We cleaned out all of the flower beds around the house and garage and added new mulch. Little-C even thought she'd help out a little.
I needed to prepare lunch but I had a little helper while doing so. I opened the cabinets where the small storage containers are and R-man quickly made his way over to the cabinet. He is Mr. Curious some days! I decided to let him play because sometimes those are the easiest things to clean up!
During the afternoon, shortly before we packed up our things to take Katelyn back home, little-C decided she needed her nails painted. She sits nice and still because I started paining her nails when she was about a year and a half old.
When it was time to take Katelyn back, Dave asked that I take the kids so he could pressure wash the two decks. Since he'll be home this week, he would like to get both of them stained. It's little things such as this that will make our home looking like new again!
Katelyn did an awesome job watching the kids this weekend while we worked our way closer to get our house ready! We did pay her because we felt she needed pay for helping out. Plus, she made rhubarb bread as well. She quite the little helper and baker!
