Framing of our New Home

For this update on the construction of our new home, I'm letting my husband Dave take over the blog, he understands the whole house building process much more than I do.

In our last update, they had just completed pouring the basement walls, since then, there has been a constant stream of activity, so here's a brief synopsis (and a lot of pictures).

After the basement walls were poured, all of the plumbing was installed underneath what would become the basement floor, including the water service, sump pump and sanitary sewer lines, not very exciting stuff, but all necessary.  On June 13, they poured the basement and garage floors.

Basement floor, freshly poured, you can see the under slab plumbing sticking up from the floor.
After the concrete had cured, framing began on June 23rd, first with the knee walls of the daylight basement.
Knee walls are framed, the load bearing basement wall is also built, but not stood up yet.
Once the knee walls were completed, the floor and decking were installed, beginning on June 25th.

New stairs installed and floor is decked.
With that done, it was time to begin framing the main floor of the house which began on June 30th.

Having lost nearly a week due to heavy rains, the crews kept plugging away when the weather was nice, including the 4th of July when they installed most of the roof trusses.

Most of the roof trusses installed.  Most of the house has also been wrapped in Tyvek to better seal the house of wind and moisture.
Little-C and R-Man had to check out the progress, this is the view from R-Man's new room.
By July 10th, the roof had been decked, all of the Tyvek was installed, and most of the windows were also installed!

The view from the southwest corner of our lot with the roof almost complete, only portion left is the covered deck.  Main floor windows are also installed.  The large opening facing towards the camera is the future door from the dining room that will open onto the deck.
The good news is at this point, all of the decisions are made, our house is sold, so we're just sitting back and letting the construction process unfold.  It's also good that after plenty of weather delays, thanks to lots of heavy rain, we're almost to the point where weather won't significantly delay construction going forward.

Coming soon will be shingles, siding, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and much more.  We'll keep you updated as the construction progresses.
