Weekend wrap up - Father's Day 2015

Wow, what a wonderful weekend! We spent it as a family and it felt awesome. The kids loved everything we did and had a great time and hardly spent any money - that's the best part!

On Friday evening, we had Dave's cousin Julie & Kent Robinson over so Kent could fix the windshield in my car. Kent's glass  repair business is called "Caliber Auto Glass." He did a great job and it took no time at all. Later that evening our neighbors came over and we had a good time, until nearly 1 a.m. I was so tired on Saturday and went to sleep very early that evening.

Saturday we went to Johnston Firefighters Association pancake breakfast. The kids loved the fire trucks, but too bad it down-poured while we were eating. The fire trucks got all wet and the kids weren't sure about having their photos taken after they were wet.

She wasn't so sure about the heavy helmet.
R-man plain hated the helmet and thought it was so heavy he couldn't look up.
The kids loved the Johnston Green Day's parade and all the candy they picked up. Little-C was more into picking up the candy than R-man was.

She had to give high five to every large creature that came through the parade.
Shaking his booty every-time music played.

Like father, like son - looking all confused.

After the parade, the kids took long naps - including me! I was in serious need of one after only getting 5 1/2 hours of sleep. This body doesn't recover as quickly as it used to with minimal sleep.

After naps, we ventured to Prairie Ridge Aquatic Center. This pool in Ankeny is perfect because it has items meant for kids R & C's age. Plus, when they call time out in the pool, R & C can play in the splash park - they both absolutely love it.

C loved the slide!
R wasn't so sure what to think of the slide - he actually hated it.
Showing off his muscles.

Loving the splash park.
He will do whatever his sister does.

Getting them to both smile is nearly impossible.
Said she wasn't tired, but a minute later I look over and she looks like this.
Sunday we took it easy and caught up on laundry and ventured to the Jester Park Equestrian Center so the kids could enjoy the outdoors. On the way home the kids wanted to play in their pool and go down the slide. It was a win-win because it was cheaper and it keeps the kids close to home.
Playing in the little water hole at Jester park.

R's face cracks me up.
Both are having a fabulous time.

Wondering how he get's off the rock in the middle of the water.
 Father's Day 2015

Like father, like son.
C wasn't so sure about climbing through the log.
But, she did it!
Checking out the elk.
She is such a little Mommy to her little brother.
Making sure he is doing okay.
Since it was Father's Day, Little-C wanted to help me make cupcakes so we found a delicious recipe on Pinterest called, "Fluffy vanilla cake with whipped vanilla bean frosting." These are certainly a MUST try!
Happy Father's Day 2015
The great Pinterest idea I found - will be a perfect canvas for Dave's office.
The Father's Day artwork that R made at daycare.
The Father's Day saying that C did at daycare.
The delicious cupcakes.
They both love their slide at home with their pool.

She loves going down the slide and landing in her pool.
He still isn't quite sure what to think of the slide.
Trying to get away so his sister doesn't get him wet.
Next year, I'm pretty sure he won't be taking this.
She doesn't seem to mind the cold water.
Just chilling - and he set his chairs up this way while eating his crackers.
