Weekend Wrap Up (9.26-9.28)

This past weekend consisted of unpacking, unpacking and more unpacking! After moving, I'm not sure why people want to move every two years!  It's a lot of work and after having two kids, it felt like we haven't moved in a couple decades! The amount of items they accumulate is astonishing!

I would like to thank my little sister Linda for taking the kids Friday morning and returning them Saturday afternoon. It made life so much easier to move on Friday without them being here. Plus, we were able to stay up late on Friday evening to unpack and catch up with our new neighbors.

We absolutely love our new neighborhood because everyone is so friendly and there are lots of kids about our kids age. I always wanted a neighborhood where our kids could grow up with other kids and just buzz down the street after school to hang out. I grew up on a farm so I couldn't just buzz down the street to hang out with my friends. There were cattle to be fed, hogs to be bedded and feed to be ground for the week! I do love the hard work ethic that I received from growing up on the farm so that is why we try to go back as often as we can with the kids!
Little-C, R-man and Cousin B having fun in the corn field!
Ready to cheer on the Cyclones!

Visit from Grandpa and Grandma Bruck on Friday evening.
My little sister is a saint for agreeing to take care of these two, plus her own.
Little-C being herself and R-man seeing what he can eat!
Wondering if they really have to cheer for the Cyclones!
Little-C learning to spell her name!
R-man not having a care in the world!
Wondering if Linda will let her take the bike home!
How fast can I go with this thing.
We actually moved on Friday. All in Moving provided great service. The estimated 7 1/2 hours and it actually took 7 hrs. 15 min. After we had everything moved, we headed over to our old house to begin cleaning. I'm kind of a neat freak so I wanted it clean for the new home owner. Dave thought I was being a bit particular, but I wanted it to be super clean when she stepped foot in her new home for the first time! We were finished around 8 p.m., but we decided to purchase the new home owner some fall flowers and a card to welcome her! We wanted her to enjoy the home that we spent 12 years our life at. As we pulled out of the driveway of 206 NW Applewood St., for the very last time, I sobbed like a little baby. Seriously, I kept telling myself...quit crying because you have a beautiful new home. The thing that got both Dave and I are the memories with the kids.
All in Moving arranging the items in the truck. They took three loads to our new home.

We remember:
  1. The first time Little-C fell down the stairs and Dave came running and even skipping a few steps along the way.
  2. The number of laps each of the kids took around the kitchen, living room and dining room with their walker toys.
  3. The excitement each time someone was walking their dog on the sidewalk as they kids looked out the front window. This is especially true with R-man. He goes crazy when he sees anything that resembles a dog.
  4. The times I went into labor during the middle of the night and had to scurry out the back door. I wished I would have stayed home longer with R-man, but we all live and learn!
  5. The times we spent playing in the snow and making snow angles and snowmen in the back yard!
  6. The number of times the kids drove their cozy coupe up and down the driveway!
  7. The excitement walking down to the mailbox every night after work to just pick up bills. The kids didn't know any better though! They thought any kind of mail was awesome!
  8. The times Little-C would watch the squirrels play in the back yard. Our new yard doesn't have trees so we will miss them.
  9. The excitement in Little-C's eyes when she saw a bunny. Dave and I hated those things, but the kids always seemed to love them.
  10. The step by the back door. For some reason for both kids, this was their favorite place to play!
  11. The first Christmas we spent together at home as a family!
As we drove out of the driveway and headed north on Applewood to our new home, I knew we made the right decision even though we were both in tears! It's those happy memories that get you as a Mom and Dad. Dang, who ever knew we'd become softies once our kids were born?

Saturday morning we spent the time unpacking and getting as much done before my sister brought the kids back. Once the kids did return, they were excited to see their new room, especially Little-C! She was excited to play in her large closet and of course, jump on her big bed! She had a big bed in her old house, but for some reason she thought it was a bit cooler.

R-man's room was almost unpacked, but we still had a few boxes to go. He is only 14 months so he doesn't' care either way!

It has taken both of the kids a while to adjust to their new home, but hopefully next week goes smooth with sleeping.

So far, neither of us has regretted building and moving and we are looking forward to many new memories in our new home! Stay tuned for the post about things I enjoyed about building and things I might do different. There are just a few!

On Sunday, my sister spent some quality time with Little-C and decorated Halloween sugar cookies! As you can see from the photo, Little-C tended to place all the sprinkles in one pile, but we all got a laugh out of it!
Notice her piles of sprinkles!
