House Update - The Final Week!

Our last update was only 6 days ago, but we have plenty to update!

On Friday, September 12th, and Saturday the 13th, the hardwood floors were installed in the kitchen and all of the tile was finished and grouted.

Hardwood Floors in the kitchen.  These are engineered hardwood, an upgrade from the basic engineered wood flooring, but not quite solid hardwood.

Backsplash is finished, including the accent strip.  This picture also shows off the under cabinet lighting which was also an upgrade.
Close up of the kitchen backsplash/accent strip.
Master shower all grouted.  No upgrades here, this is the standard package with Remington Homes.
On Monday, September 15th, the weather finally cooperated and the outside of the house was painted and the stone work was completed on the outside and inside.  We opted for a bit of a darker color for the outside than we original anticipated, but we loved the color of another house in our neighborhood and particularly like the contrast with the lighter trim color.

Painting underway and stonework completed.  The base plan only had stone on the garage and porch columns, but we upgraded to include the stone under the front windows.

Back of the house just after it was painted.  The windows are still covered with plastic.  This will be the view from our future neighbors house.  It's the only lot left to develop, it's all staked out, but they haven't started construction yet.

It's in stone, so it must be official, 3925 NW 6th Street!
Yes, I mentioned stone on the inside.  The stone around the fireplace was a fairly spendy upgrade, but we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The typical fireplace only has tile.  Clearly this will be the centerpiece of the house.  Less than 100 days until the stockings will be hung with care...Hard to believe we seriously considered moving the fireplace to the basement...
On Tuesday, September 16th, all of the carpet was installed, the deck was built and they started finish grading the yard.  Oh and the plumbing was finished.

Carpet looking down the main hallway to the living room.  We upgraded the carpet from the typical "builders" carpet to a Tigressa which is very similar to the carpet we installed in the basement of our current home.  We chatted with the installer, who noted that we had picked some of the best carpet available, it'll look much nicer with juice stains.
Steps are in final stages of carpeting.

Plumbing was finished.  Dave claimed he didn't leave the seat up...

View of our new deck from the back door in the kitchen.  You can also see that we'll have some new neighbors by winter.
Fill has been added to the front yard so it can be graded and sod installed.
On Wednesday, September 17th lots of little finishes were completed on the inside and the lot was final grading and ready for sod.
Kitchen, almost completed finished. Notice the door hardware and faucet have been installed.

Stairway railing has been completed.  This too was a slight upgrade and this is typically a drywalled half wall.  We love the wood/wrought iron look.  We've already bought a screw free adapter to add to the railing so we can install a gate (we'll need it R-Man has started standing/walking)!

View of the deck from the back yard.

We've taken this very same picture many many times since May when we started, and only one more picture will be needed when the sod is installed!

View of our backyard from the sidewalk.  A week and a day from now there will be a swing set in this picture.
View of the east side of the house and the window well for the fifth bedroom which we added in the basement.
While Remington Homes has been busy finishing our new home.  They've still got some work to do, all the little details to finish the home, but they tell us not to worry, it'll be done.  So we've been working on the details for the move.  Coldwell Banker offers a concierge service, so they've made arrangements to have our water, trash and internet service transferred.  The movers are all lined up, now if only we were done packing...

We'll keep you updated, but it's quite possible our next update will be documenting our move!
