Weekend Wrap Up (Kelsey's Wedding) 10.10.15

This marks my 100th post! What better way to do it than to write a post about the marriage between Greg and Kelsey Hart! In May, I wrote a blog post about Kelsey and how great of a teacher she was. Caroline absolutely loved Kelsey and she was excited for her big day to see her in her beautiful white dress.

On Saturday, we left home around 11:30 am to assure we arrived in Galena, IL in plenty of time. Thankfully we only had to stop once on the way there. Galena was beautiful this time of year, but I think we were ahead of most of the leaves changing by one week or so. On the drive, we were hoping Caroline would take a mini nap, but caring for her baby the entire way was more important. She didn't nap once.

Another beautiful photo - the leaves are just starting to change.
We arrived at the wedding around 3:15 pm, but we had to put on Caroline's dress. We didn't want her to wrinkle it or spill something on it during our trip. Once she put the dress on, she loved it and was excited to twirl and dance! However, getting her to smile and act excited was another story. She's smiling until the point of when the camera comes out, then she quits.
Wearing her sweater since it was a bit cold outside.
Once she was ready to roll, we headed outdoors to take our seat. We received a program and we tried to distract Caroline with everything we could to keep her quiet before and during the ceremony.

The moment Kelsey was about to come down, Caroline was excited with anticipation. Once she could finally see her, she said her dress is so pretty and really long. It's so funny hearing things through the eyes of a three and a half year old.

Following the ceremony, we had to capture a few photos of our little girl. It's not every day she get's dressed up like this.

Finally, a smile showing she was proud to be in the photo!

The best smile we could get out of her.
As we made our way inside for the reception, Caroline was excited how pretty all of the chairs looked. Thankfully we were able to capture a precious photo.
Very excited to see and talk with Kelsey.
Before we had a chance to talk with Kelsey, we had a discussion with Caroline about not being shy and talk to her. Well, that went great when she wasn't there, but as soon as she saw her she was all shy and not sure what to say. Even the photographer tried to get her to smile when Kelsey was holding her, but below is the best photo I could capture. She was getting extremely tired at this point so maybe that's why.

After we had our meal, Caroline was so excited for cake. She only ate off the frosting, but then was ready to dance. Kids a few years older were out dancing so she wanted to be just like them. But, I kept telling her that Kelsey had to dance with a few people first. She was hoping it was her!

But, she got to dance with her Daddy, which made her excited. She wanted to more or less, jump up and down the entire time, but she had fun. After she got done dancing, she was complaining that her legs hurt. At least it was wearing her out for the drive home.

After about five songs, we put her pajamas on and hit the road around 8 pm. We arrived home around 11:15 pm and I was glad - driving home with what I thought was the worst sinus headache in history was miserable. I took some Advil and headed to bed.

Around 2:30 am, Caroline woke up with the same stomach bug Ryan had earlier in the week. I was thankful she made it home without getting sick. Although, during the entire reception she kept saying her tummy hurt. Well, this explained why. Since I was up with Ryan earlier in the week, Dave took care of her! When we woke up, I got ready and headed to urgent care to see a doctor. I was glad they opened at 9 am so I could get in and out. I took Ryan with me since he's had a terrible cough for a week too. They gave us both a prescription and the doctor confirmed I had a sinus infection. After we picked up our prescriptions, the entire family took a much needed three hour nap!

We had a great time at Kelsey's wedding and we were thankful we got invited to the wedding. Hearing their story of dating since they were 14, brought back memories! Dave and I started dating November 1997, when I was 17 years old. Gosh, it seems like ages ago.

We wish Kelsey and Greg many years of happiness and we were happy to be a part of their special day!
