This past weekend was spent with our kids and we both absolutely loved it. Today marks the last day at home before we head back to work this week. Being on vacation this past week was great, but we did have a lot do do with the house so it didn't feel quite like vacation. I'm looking forward to a staycation in the near future with a little R & R at home!
Friday evening we spent some quality time in the basement as we were building shelves for all of our holiday totes and kids clothes, toys, etc... I've said it before, but kids accumulate a lot of stuff.
I look at their totes of clothes and get sad because of all the outfits they outgrew!
As we were building the shelves, the kids loved crawling on them and running from one side to the other. R-man has just learned how to walk so he's a bit unstable and kind of freaks us out when he steps down off of things onto the cement. He tends to be very careful, but when his sister runs up behind him acting like she's going to get him he tries to hurry and nearly falls. I love how excited he get's when someone is chasing him though! I once read that
children laugh about 400 times a day, while adults on average only laugh 15 times per day. To be a child again would be great! They have so much fun with life with little worries. Sometimes I think I need to take some advice from the kids!

My awesome storage shelves! |
On Saturday, we organized the basement and began stacking the totes on our shelves. We also organized our family room a bit so it didn't look so cluttered. I know we just moved in, but I am the type that likes to have things nice and neat and right in their place!

Later that evening, I had some bananas that needed to be used so Little-C helped me make some banana bread! She absolutely loves baking and enjoys pouring things into the stand up mixer. She couldn't use this at our other house because space was limited.

Sunday morning, I got to cuddle with my little man as he woke up early! He absolutely loves to cuddle and is such a mama's boy. I love it, but I always tell him that he needs to grow up to be a tough kid!

My little cuddle bug - his nose is scrapped up due to a face plant he took into a shelf at daycare. |
Later in the morning and evening, we spent some times with friends. We went to church in the morning. We tried to get a good photo of the kids with their cute outfits, but this is the best one we could get. This is why we pay a professional photographer "
Kari Bruck Photography" to take our kids photos!

Later in the morning, a good friend of mine (Lindsey), came over and her husband and son. Little-C had a blast playing with her new friend. Lindsey has a few inspiring stories on her blog (
Reflecting on Life) that you should check out! After reading her blog post, "one year ago," it made me realize even more the importance of family. As a human being, we are never in control of our fate- the lord up above is!
Live each day to the fullest because you never know if there will be another. This is another reason that adults should laugh more often!
In the evening, our good friends that live across the street from us came over. Little-C just loves her! It's so funny watching them play together because they entertain themselves so well.
