Kids Update (September)

Here’s a quick update from this past month.

R-man is officially a toddler and is proud to prove it as he struts around the house and yard. The kid is growing up a little too quick for my liking. Little-C will be three in just a few short months. I'm wondering how this can be possible! She is growing up to be a young lady who is very determined. I'm wondering who she get's that from?
Age:
R-man is 14months
Little-C is 2 yrs. 9 months

Stats:
R-man is 24.5 lbs.
Little-C
is 31.5 lbs.
Teeth:
R-man has 12 teeth.Four of his molars aren't quite through yet, but they have at least broken through the skin. Molars are painful from what I could tell and he always had to be chewing on something when they were coming in. A few times it was my finger, which didn't feel good when his front teeth got a hold of it.

Little-C's teeth are great, but brushing her teeth has gotten a bit more challenging. She doesn't care to spend the time with them as much as she should, but hopefully it improves.

Clothes:
R-man – He is wearing mostly 18-month clothes. Every time I try to put a 12-month shirt on him, I realize it's too small and he looks poured into it. However, his 18-month pants are a bit long so, I fold them over to assure they don't trip him when he walks. He is wearing size 5 shoes. He absolutely loves shoes, especially his little loafers.

Little-C – She is wearing 3T clothes and size 8 shoes. If we are shopping, she'll say, "Mom, that is cute, don't you think?" I'm wondering how she knows this vocabulary and proper use of phrases at age 2.

Favorite foods this month:  R-man loves eating the following foods:
  • Bacon (if it's in small bite size pieces)
  • Bread (we try not to give it too him very often)
  • Chicken n biscuit crackers
  • Carrots & green beans (the kid loves his vegetables)
  • M & M's
Little-C loves about anything these days. She doesn't like pickles and will be sure to tell you if she doesn't like something. She'll try it and spit it out saying, "I don't like it."

Milestones:
R-man:
  • Walks everywhere: He is determined to get to where he needs by himself.
  • Books: He loves them and will have you read the entire basket to him, if time allows.
  • Picks up toys: If you tell him to pick them up and put them away, he'll do it.
  • Climbs up and down stairs: He will climb up the stairs like a kid, but he wants to walk down them like an adult. This has me a bit scared.
  • Outside: He loves going outside and it's almost a battle to get him inside when it's time to get ready for bed.
  • Knows Yes and No: If you ask him a question, he'll either shake his head yes or no.
  • Say's Please:  It sounds more like, peeese (but still adorable).
Little-C:
  • Potty trained: Yup, she's potty trained during the day. We will now take her out with her big girl panties on and we'll continually ask her if she has to go. We make her respond with, "No Thank you" or "Yes, Please." She's been doing awesome. Now if we could only get the nighttime potty training down.
New things they've learned and/or do:
R-man:
  • Signs please and more: Will sign when he would like more and will say thank you. He will also hold up his hands when he's all done, which has been super helpful.
  • Say's Dog: His pronunciation for dog has gotten more prominent and he get's even more excited every time he sees a dog.
  • Say's Bye: It's so cute to hear him say this because he'll say byeeee, and wave!
  • Points at what he would like: He's to that point where he's Mr. Independent and he will tell you what he wants. If you give him something and it's not right, he'll toss it on the floor. Let's hope this attitude doesn't continue.
  • Say's Tractor: When he sees a tractor, he'll say tra-tor.
Little-C:
  • Sings new songs almost everyday. Below are new ones that she's been singing:
    • Where is tumpkin...
    • Let it go (from the movie Frozen).  This is the only phrase she sings, but it's still cute.
  • Cares for her brother: If Dave is gone and I need to get ready in the morning, I'll ask her to take care of her brother so that I can get ready. She does a great job!
  • Learned what skinny jeans are: Once in a while she'll say, I need to wear my skinny jeans with my boots. Seriously, we may be creating a fashion monster when she's older.

Favorite Things:
R-man
  • Books: He still has a passion for books.
  • Dogs: He loves dogs when he sees them outside. I keep telling him that we will never get one of our own so he can only look at them from afar!
  • Anything with an engine: He'll say vrooom, vrooom when he sees anything that has an engine. He is a typical boy! Little-C never did this.
  • Cars: He loves playing with this cozy coupe, bikes and big wheel. If you let him loose in the garage that is where he'll head!

Little-C
  • Playing with her friends:  We have a lot of great friends who have kids Little-C's age. She loves when they come over to play.
  • Going to the park: She loves going to the park and we've learned to count how many times she has left on the slide. If we don't count them down, we'd be there all night.
  • Helping with laundry: She loves helping load the washer and dryer. Let's hope this continues.

Sleep:
  • R-man goes down between 7:30 and 8:00.
  • Little-C goes down around 8:30 and 9:00.
Health:
Both had a clean bill of health this month.
